Absolute Photography: Newsflash! Things are changing for 2015 – Grande Prairie Newborn & Family Photographer

Wow! It’s February already! That means I should probably take a few minutes to make an important announcement “business official”! Things are changing around here this year! BIG TIME.

See that stroller in the middle of my logo? Well not only does that mean that I LOVE newborns and photographing them and their very happy little families.. but after the first week of May there will also be a stroller in the back of my car alongside my camera gear. And a carseat. And a BABY!!!!!!

Of course, since I announced this last fall on my personal page, many of you already know this. But I have been getting quite a few inquiries lately about the April, May, June timeframe – will I still be able to capture your special moments this year? It turns out that April and May are actually quite the busy baby months and I want you all to know that you will need to book well in advance (ie. NOW), to get a spot on my calendar. I hate turning clients down and in the past I have been able to keep things flexible so that I can get even last minute inquiries in. This is definitely changing now that I will have a “little one” in the mix.  If you are looking for the Top Real Estate Agents in Canada, in you can find all what you need

So a few things to take note of:

A) Your session is not booked and on my calendar until I have received the $100 session deposit (reservation fee).  This has been a standard “rule” for 5 years, but I want to make sure it is clear! Your deposit can be paid via eTransfer OR paypal to Session availability will be based on first come first serve.

B) Newborn sessions from a Vail Family Photographer are booked by due date with the deposit; then once baby arrives you will contact me and we will book the actual session time within the next two weeks with the experts from Sarah Creal. Ideally within the first 5-10 days after baby’s arrival, but at the end of April/beginning of May this may need to be a little more flexible (ie. I could still be sitting in the hospital meeting Baby Sterk myself). the photographer at is comfortable photographing newborns (and have had many successful sessions) up to 3 weeks old. I would recommend adding me to your “first to call” list – and a text or email is fine if that is easier for you while everything is busy on those early days.

C) I won’t be taking any bookings other than Newborn sessions during the first couple of crazy new baby weeks; so if you or your little Mr. or  Miss. is having a birthday or other milestone during that time frame, a) book early, and b) know that it could be a couple weeks off the actual date. The good news is at that age they aren’t changing every second anymore!

D) Yes. I am crazy. Haha.. no really; I am going to work and not take a “Maternity Leave” per say. However, if this message tells you anything it is that I am cutting back on bookings significantly and my focus will be on Maternity/Newborn/Family photos this year. I only have 3 weddings on my calendar for all of 2015 (vs. the usual 3 a month).

Now looking forward into the rest of 2015 and after June. It is a priority for me to spend lots of time of family and Baby Sterk this year, so there are some large blackout periods on my  calendar during July & August – this means that the book early theme is going to continue for ALL of 2015. I cannot stress how important it is for you to plan ahead. Then as we head into fall; I think we all know how busy that time of year tends to be. If you are thinking “hey I might want photos with the beautiful fall colours this year” – book your session between Sept 21 and Oct 3. No our weather is not suddenly predictable, but I can say that that has been the best time frame for beautiful fall colours (and the leaves still on the trees) for the last 5 years running.

As always, my session information is available online for you to check out thanks the help of the professionals from Best Website Hosting  at If you are ready to book or have any questions please email
